SSU Scholarships

The Sonoma State University Financial Aid & Scholarships Office is excited to announce that the scholarship application for the Fall 2027 – Spring 2028 academic year is now open! Our system permits students to submit a single application for a chance to be matched with more than 200 scholarship opportunities, allowing students to spend less time on applications and more time focusing on their studies.

  • Who is eligible? All new or continuing degree program students with a 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA who are planning to attend full-time (12 units undergraduate, eight units graduate) for the 2027-28 academic year.
  • What opportunities are available? SSU awarded more than $600,000 in scholarships to applicants last year! Applicants are matched with scholarships based on criteria such as degree type, major, club affiliation, and more.
  • How do I apply? After reading through the application requirements on the SSU Scholarships website, complete and submit the scholarship application through the Scholarship Portal. Log in using your MySSU username and password and be sure to answer all the required questions.

If you have any questions, please email scholarships@sonoma.edu.

External Scholarships for Nursing Students

External Scholarships for Nursing Students
External scholarships are provided by organizations, individuals, or businesses outside of Sonoma State University. These scholarships should be reported to the Financial Aid and Scholarship Office so we can make sure they show as anticipated aid on your account and fit into the rest of your financial aid award. Failure to do so could result in us requiring you to repay some or all of your need-based financial aid.

External Scholarship Resources
External scholarships have varying requirements and deadlines, so make sure to review their application information carefully. This information is provided as a convenience for students. SSU neither makes any recommendations nor endorsement of the scholarships listed. Before applying to any opportunities you find, keep the following in mind:

  • Scholarships do not typically ask for your social security number.
  • You should not have to pay money to submit your application.
  • Trust your gut; if it seems fishy it probably is.
  • The FTC website has more on how to avoid scams.
